An Empowerment Prayer for: Me and You

An Empowerment Prayer for: Me and You

Father God,

Help me to have faith in knowing that all things work to the good of those that love the Lord and are called according to your purpose. (Romans 8:28).

Lord, there are times along this path that things seem unclear. At times it feels that I know exactly what direction I am headed in because your presence is so strong. There are other times when I feel like you are so far away; yet, I am reliant upon you as my compass. Please make my crooked paths straight so that I may continue upon the path of your will for my life. (Isaiah 45:2).

Help me boldly go forward into this call over my life, be it being a parent, a spouse, an employee, a pastor, or an usher. It is in you that I have boldness and access with confidence through my faith in you. (Ephesians 3:12).

Father, I have faith that at this very moment, there is nothing missing and nothing broken from my life that is needed to execute the plans you have. I will obediently use my time and resources wisely, and I believe that every provision I will ever need will be provided by you. (Philippians 4:19).

I surrender my life to you. In his darkest hour, Christ asked that you remove his cup from him, yet he still surrendered to your will (Mark 14:35-36). In my darkest hour, help me to remember that the burden may be heavy, and my cup may be something I think is too difficult to bear, but you will never leave me nor forsake me (Deuteronomy 31:6).

I thank you God for your perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3). I thank you for your unspeakable joy (1 Peter 1:8). I thank you for your unchanging love (Malachi 3:6). I thank you for the times you have blessed me when I did not deserve it. I rejoice in your new mercies I receive every morning (Lamentations 3:23).

You said you did not give me the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Allow me to use these gifts to see your name glorified upon the earth.

Help me to not get lost in my way and my will. This world we live in has been formed to teach me to not have a vision that goes beyond what our two hands can do. I want to always remember that your power surpasses anything I can even begin to think of doing; so, when you call me to walk in and on purpose, please allow to always consider that my power does not only come from what I believe about myself and my ability to think positively…my power also comes from your unmatchable power that no one or no thing has the ability to stop it.

Understanding that as a (wo)man thinketh so is (s)he (Proverbs 23:7), I will strive to always think upon these things: whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, excellent, or praiseworthy. This way I will be whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, excellent, or praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8).

May my life always be pleasing in your sight.

This I pray in Jesus’ name.

Amen.

What if?

What if?

What if life as you know it ceased to exist? What if we wake up tomorrow and all technology has shut down? Internet, telephones, television….gone. Running water, plumbing, electricity….no more.

What would life look like? Wherein does your faith lie?

What would you do first? Would you begin to plant a garden so you and your family could eat? Maybe find some safe water to drink? How would you get in touch with your loved ones who are far away?

Would you begin to panic? Would you give up? Perhaps you would try to start a business.

Would you rely on your faith to start life over again?

These are the things I consider when I think about Matthew 6:30-33: “But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (ESV)

We have been conditioned by a “hustle and bustle” society that says we always need to be breaking our necks to not only meet our needs, but our wants as well. We work multiple jobs so that we can afford the largest house, newest cars, and name brand clothing, which is absolutely any individual’s choice. But consider this:

What if we actually sought the kingdom and its righteousness first? What if we actually worked in a field that aligns with our higher calling? Would our gifts actually make room for us? (Prov. 18:16) Would we enjoy our work so much that we would work with excellence instead of mediocrity?

This is something I thought of when I changed my profession from being a Patient Care Technician in dialysis, to becoming a Life Empowerment Coach. I was really good at dialysis. However, I knew that it was not my call, and I preferred doing what is important to the kingdom of heaven versus what made more sense to society.

Taking the path that allows your walk into your calling is not always easy. It’s definitely unconventional. Sometimes our call is to be a Patient Care Technician, a nurse, or the VP of a well-known company. Yet, for others, their call may be to become an entrepreneur, a mission worker, or a stay-at-home parent. How will you eat, pay bills, and clothe your kids?

Following the path to your ultimate vision requires great faith. There will be times that you have no idea how you will make ends meet. But if we believe in what Matthew 6:30-33 says, there is no need to worry.

Have you:
                Sought first the kingdom?
Taken the first step towards developing your call?
Trusted God that everything you need will be taken care of?

If you haven’t, what if you did? I believe that when we take these steps, all things will surely be added to us.

Nothing is more real than a “final notice” letter coming through the mail, an empty fridge, or an empty gas tank. It is quite frustrating when you have to seek governmental assistance. It is downright discouraging when you have to sit in the dark because you could not pay the bill. But the lack of these things do not define the power of God, nor does it define you as a person. Some of the greatest authors, inventors, and politicians experienced many dark days. Actor, producer, and writer Tyler Perry shared that some of his first plays were written while he was homeless.

When you do your best, you can expect God’s best. But seek first the kingdom of God. Things may not always meet society’s standard, but…….

What if?

Peace.
